Dr. Carly Giel

DVM

Basalt

Dr. Carly Giel grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her parents, two older brothers, and a plethora of pets. Her love for animals started young and her love of the veterinary profession was solidified during her undergraduate studies when she began shadowing and working at small and exotic animal clinics. She attended the University of Dayton where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 2017 and during this time, working with incredible veterinary mentors allowed her to develop her love for medicine, surgery, and client education.

Dr. Carly went on to graduate from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021 with a passion for small and exotic animal medicine with an emphasis on pocket pets. Serving as the Ohio State Oxbow Representative, an exotic animal health and wellness company, Carly gained valuable pocket pet knowledge while educating her colleagues on exotic animal husbandry and nutrition. Through externship opportunities, Carly has enjoyed providing services for low-cost spay/neuter clinics, raptor rehabilitation centers, and wildlife rescues.

Dr. Carly has been a frequent visitor of the Roaring Fork Valley for the past 5 years before finally moving here after graduating veterinary school. She met Dr. John Kuck during a visit to the valley and felt an instant connection to the Willits Vet team and their mission and is so happy to now be a part of it. In her free time, she loves rock climbing and yoga, but also enjoys hiking, skiing, and anything else in the great outdoors. She shares her home with her 2 spoiled bunnies, Lily (a Mini Rex) and Morty (a Holland Lop).
