Willits Veterinary Hospital is pleased to bring the newest and best technology in advanced imaging with the NewTom 5G Cone Bean CT for Veterinary Medicine.
Cone beam technology produces equal or better image quality compared to traditional CT scans, while exposing patients to far less radiation and with faster results. In just 18 seconds this state of the art technology takes the equivalent of a 360 slice CT scan.
The Cone Beam CT creates a three-dimensional, cone-shaped beam that only has to circle the patient once to generate an image of the entire area.
The benefits are many; from exposing pets to far less radiation to generating images in far less time – a mere 18 seconds. The images generated by a Cone Beam CT contain huge, helpful data sets that include both traditional and three-dimensional images.

What makes Cone Beam technology different?
Traditional CT scans create one image “slice” at a time
using a “fan”-like beam of radiation. To generate all of the slices needed to create a full image the fan beam must circle the patient repeatedly. The Cone Beam CT creates a three-dimensional “cone”-like beam that only has to circle the patient one time to image an entire area, exposing your pet to far less radiation. The scanner also senses and responds to patient size, producing even less radiation for our smaller patients. Studies have shown that Cone Beam CTs expose a patient to anywhere from 5-100 times less radiation than traditional CTs.
- 18 second scan time
- 360-degree revolution around the animal
- Produces an entire 3D image
- Multiple fields of view
- Low radiation
- 3D imagery is quickly produced and analyzed
